Periodontal Surgery FAQ's
At Berdy Dental Group, we’ve found that our patients often have many questions regarding gum surgery treatment. To help our patients gain clarity and peace of mind about periodontal surgery, our dental team has answered the most frequently asked questions about this procedure.
Under what circumstances will I need a periodontal procedure?
Without proper treatment, gum disease can advance quickly, leading to painful symptoms and even tooth loss in some cases. Our practice will determine whether surgery or another periodontal procedure can best treat the source of your symptoms.
What should I expect coming into my surgery?
By the time you come in for surgery, our professionals will have examined your teeth and gum tissue to determine whether periodontal surgery is the best solution for you. The specific expectations for each patient may vary, but our team will answer any questions you may have about your treatment – either before, during or after your visit.
How long is periodontal surgery recovery?
Usually, patients can return to their normal schedule the day following a procedure. Complete healing time varies so it is important to read the post-operation guidelines given to you. Following these will help shorten your recovery.
Can my surgery be paid under my insurance?
It depends on the insurer and individual’s policy, but many plans do cover at least part of the cost of periodontal surgery. Our office can answer any questions you may have about your coverage, and we can also get the proper paperwork to your insurance plan.
If you have any additional questions about your upcoming periodontal surgery or would like to schedule a visit, call Dr. Christian Berdy or Dr. Cary Berdy at our Jacksonville office at 904-389-1376.
